BARCELONA - Google mengklaim sistem operasi (OS) mobile keluarannya, Android telah terjual sekir 26 juta unit setiap harinya di seluruh dunia. Kini Android telah digunakan oleh sekira 26 model ponsel.
Demikian diungkapkan CEO Google, Eric Schmidt di sela Mobile World Congress di Barcelona, Spanyol, Rabu (17/2/2010).
"Ada 26 ponsel dengan 59 operator di 48 negara dengan 19 bahasa sejauh ini. Dan ini baru awal," ujar Schmidt.
"Kami sekarang telah mengapalkan sekira 60 ribu device Android per hari dan jumlah ini meningkat dua kali lipat di kuartal terakhir lalu," tandas Schmidt.
Schmidt menambahkan jika pertumbuhan jelas sekali terlihat sangat cepat.
"Kami berharap pertumbuhan ini akan berlanjut untuk waktu-waktu mendatang yang masih panjang," tandasnya.
Di Amerika Serikat, OS Android diantaranya diadopsi oleh G1 dan Motorola Droid. G1 dipasarkan oleh operator AS, T-Mobile. Di AS pertumbuhan penjualan Android meningkat 3,5 persen sepanjang tahun 2009. (srn)
