TAT Adds Hot Fudge to Vanilla Android

TAT Home, Gesture-Powered 3D Home Screen for Android, is Announced at Mobile World Congress

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - February 15, 2010) - Today TAT (The Astonishing Tribe) launches the first release of TAT Home, a gesture-powered 3D Home screen for Android that successfully marries advanced UI technology with astonishing design.

With simple gestures the user can perform everyday tasks -- such as, Contacts, Messaging, Music and Weather -- without leaving the Home screen. In addition to standard Android Widgets, TAT Home supports unique widgets with 3D-graphics and innovative interaction methods. For example, the 3D weather widget pops up to show detailed data behind an at-a-glance forecast.

"The number of Android manufacturers is growing and as this number grows, so does the need for differentiation -- both for brand recognition and to capture market share. Android is only a framework and requires a lot of additional work by device manufacturers. While the volume of smartphones purchased will continue to rise, their prices will continue to slip, forcing manufactures to stay on top of their costs as they bring new phones to market," said Kevin Burden, Practice Director, Mobile Devices, ABI Research.

"We are passionate about enabling and creating great user interface design. Today our advanced UI technology powers every tenth phone shipped globally. With TAT Home we offer a fast track for OEMs, ODMs and operators to create a very attractive and differentiated user experience on Android devices. With unique, graphically rich and interactive widgets in TAT Home, our customers can engage daily with users where it really matters -- on the face of the phone," said Charlotta Falvin, CEO of TAT.

The first release of TAT Home runs on standard Android phones, with the following key features:

  • The Widget Fan provides a stunning overview of all widget panes; anything that is happening across the widgets can be seen at a glance. Ingenious gesture-enabled design allows instant jumping to any pane, including the application launcher, with the flick of a thumb. In a matter of days, muscle memory will know where widgets are placed and navigation becomes completely seamless.
  • A comprehensive set of astonishing Widgets created with TAT Cascades™ for optimal performance of 3D-graphics, transitions, and interaction:
    • Weather Widget -- flip between a compact at-a-glance forecast and detailed data with a simple gesture;
    • Clock Widget -- set the alarm in the most intuitive way and enjoy the ultra smooth wake up experience;
    • Messaging Widget -- do your everyday tasks with SMS and MMS;
    • Music Widget -- play your music from the small remote or flick into the immersive 3D album browser;
    • Contacts Widgets -- quickly select a contact from the grid of Faves with zero setup.
  • Seamless blending of any standard Android widgets.

TAT Home will be demonstrated at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 15-18, 2010, in TAT's booth in Hall 2 F18. Invitations to early access and evaluation of TAT Home will be available from www.tat.se/home.

Samsung Galaxy S Pro With Keyboard Rumored

There are touchscreen only fans and hardware keyboard fans and some folks are adamant about having it one way or another. That’s why when an amazing mobile phone like the Motorola Droid – or in this case the Samsung Galaxy S – are announced, one knee-jerk reaction is to wonder what the phone would be like if they offered an alternate version. We’re all familiar with the practice of adding a slideout QWERTY and slapping a “Pro” on to the end of the name, and that is exactly what HDBlog.it are suggesting will happen with the Samsung Galaxy S. The above picture is only a mock-up and is NOT real. But, rumor has it a phone that looks very similar to the Galaxy S will add the keyboard and start selling in late summer, after the original S has been on the market a couple months. Is there any truth to the rumor? No way of knowing. Would you be happy if the rumor came true? Different question completely… and one that I’d love for YOU to answer. by Rob Jackson on March 30th, 2010 Sumber : Ph...

40 Flash Sites for Android 2.2 Phones

Daniel Ionescu , PCWorld Sep 23, 2010 8:54 pm Welcome Droid X owners to the mobile world of Adobe Flash on a smartphone - the world Steve Jobs doesn't want you to see . This week Motorola Droid X joins a small but growing club of devices running Android 2.2 (aka Froyo ). The biggest improvement delivered by Android 2.2 is support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for smartphones. Before Android 2.2, surfing Flash-enhanced sites on a mobile phone was a limited experience only available to a couple of Nokia phones. But now, with Froyo running on around 30 percent of all Android phones, by Google's own estimates that is, we are just starting to get the taste of Flash on smartphones. For many the addition of Flash is a big deal, but the next question is what's there to do now? Sadly, because Flash for Android smartphones is so new there are few Flash sites optimised for the platform that take into considerations sm...
